Custom Expressionengine Change 30.09.08
I have a websites based on expressionengine CMS using their multi-site manager. I have 2 things I would like done
1). On elitetrack.com, we have an article database that contains PDF files. You can view it by going to www.elitetrack.com/articles/. We would like to change the way that the articles are viewed. Currently, when you click on the article link (for example http://www.elitetrack.com/articles/read/4042/) it redirects and automatically downloads a PDF to the users desktop for viewing or saving. The name of the URL can actually remain the same but we would like the function to change. We have converted all of our PDFs to swf files using print to flash (http://print2flash.com/) and then instead of having that link (http://www.elitetrack.com/articles/read/4042/) redirect to a PDF download, we would like to have it take the user to a page with the embeded flash file. The page should be a single column page with the normal site header and body background and the article swf embed width should be consistent with the width of the tabbed menu on latest and greatest page (www.elitetrack.com/latest_greatest/). Above the embedded SWF should be the name of the article, the rating script and the graphic image link to the forums that are present on the articles page. This can essentially just be reproduced from that page. We would also like to have a link to download the original PDF but that link should only be viewable to logged in members of the site. There are 220 articles and 220 SWF files. Currently, the swf files are not linked on the site in any way. All of the swf files have files names that are the same as the PDFs they were converted from (so a PDF entitled my-article.pdf will be converted to my-article.swf). This should simplify the matching of links. All of the PDFs are already on the site and swf files are already on the site.
2). On elitetrack.com, rewrite a custom script for the latest forum posts on the latest and greatest page (www.elitetrack.com/latest_greatest/) and the box in the top right corner of the forum (www.elitetrack.com/forums) entitled Most Recent Topics so that they BOTH display the most recent topics and the most recent posts. Currently the one in the tabbed menu only displays the latest posts and the one in the upper right hand box only displays the latest topics. The difference is that expressionengine handles the first entry in a forum thread as a topic and all subsequent entries as posts. Unfortunately, there’s no default way to combine these two lists to make a top 10 or top 30 list of all the most recent activity on the forum.
