Mysql Remove Bounced Email.  10.10.08

We currently have a MySQL database which holds our members details in a particular table. In this table, we have fields containing the following:
Field 1 = Member name (Text)
Field 2 = member ID (number)
Field 3 = email address

Everynow and again we have to send a bulk email to our members (which is easy), but many months may pass between mailshots. Because of this time delay, many members have changed or updated their email addresses and not remembered to update their account with the new information. We therefore receive a number of bounced emails after each mailshot.

What we would like is for a script to be created that when run, would check a particular mailbox (via POP3/IMAP etc) for these bounced returns (ie, the email address we specified in the FROM field when we sent our mailshot out). If it finds a bounced email there, we would like the script to search our MySQL database for the offending email address and change it to a particular string. This will force our user with the incorrect/expired email to update it when they next log back into our website.

We run a standard linux/apache webserver with all the standard languages supported.

Any more detailing information can be provided on request.
