Can be written using any language, however the form I am using is currently in PHP. The form auto extracts information including a link. This form would need to interface with the screenshot generating script, creat a thumbnail (two different sizes), and automatically store them on the server. Because this form updates a mySQL table, the screenshot generator should also update an already existing thumbnail field in the record with the absolute url path of the location of where the file will be stored.
The successful bidder must provide a working script with a warranty of fitness. Experience with this type of application is recommended as the candidate must also apprise us of server requirements, and any impacts on performance or loads.
We would prefer development of a custom script, and ownership of the proprietary rights to the software being developed. While the primary objective is the development of a screenshot generator with a real-time screenshot capture mechanism, the successful bidder will need to come up with a creative scheduling element to be written (i.e. driven through a cron job during off-hours, etc.) to capture screenshots of some 10,000 links which have already been stored in the mySQL database.
Installation instructions are a must as we will likely be installing this script ourselves. If there is any additional software required for installation on the server, we must be made aware prior to tendering bid.
