Phpbay Fast Deployment  25.08.08

What is phpBay?
phpBay Pro is a powerful tool that easily integrates into your website to allow you to display Ebay auctions on your website. When a user clicks on a product from your site which takes them to Ebay and then places a winning bid, you receive a commission from Ebay. You can view more at http://www.phpbay.com. phpBay essentially gives you a very easy Ebay API to work with.

What we want to do:
We would like to create new phpBay sites by assigning a domain and category to a site and clicking a button. We would additionally like to add more shopping categories to a site quickly by just giving category/subcategory names. We plan to promote these sites through SEO and social media and we’ll be adding other utilities to create content for the sites in the future (such as pulling Wikipedia data and displaying it on our site). The reason for being able to add different templates/pictures of categories is for conversion and SEO purposes. The more a site looks like a legitimate shopping site the more likely a user is going to click an item to buy it and be taken to eBay. We also don’t want footprints for search engines to find.

We’ve attached a basic powerpoint example of what we are looking for. Things can be added or removed depending on if there is a more efficient way to do something. Note: The powerpoint does not contain the subsubcategory area slide although it’s still something we’d like to see.

Concept database to give you an idea of what we are trying to do:

domains
domainid, templateid, domain, sitename, ebaykeywords, picture (optional), description (optional)
1, 1, “clothingitems.com”, “clothing”, “clothing”, “clothingitems.gif”, “a great place to find great items!”

templates
templateid, template
1, “clothingitems_template”

categories
categoryid, name, ebaykeywords, description (optional), picture (optional)
1, “jeans”, “jeans”, “the nicest designer jeans”, “jeans.jpg”

subcategories (subcategories are optional)
subcategoryid, categoryid, name, ebaykeywords, description, picture
1, 1, “levis”, “levies jeans”, “really nice levi jeans”, “levis.jpg”

subsubcategories (subsubcategories are optional)
subsubcategoryid, subcategoryid, name, ebaykeywords, description, picture
1, 1, “men’s levis”, “men’s levis jeans”, “very nice men’s levis”, “menslevies.jpg”

Smarty or similar template engine preferred (or build your own)
We plan to create various templates we can select for each new site we add. Therefore an easy way to integrate data into these templates without having to do much coding inside the template itself would be great.

Domains
For simplicity we plan to park all the domains on 1 IP. Using $_SERVER[‘HTTP_HOST'] is the easiest way I can think of allowing us to mass add domains.

An optional plus if you think you can do it, is we have several C blocks of IPs we can use for this project. If you know of a way to easily assign sites to their own IP while still making it easy to add new domains (we use cPanel/Apache if that helps, DNS is not necessary since we use dnsmadeeasy.com) that would be way awesome for SEO reasons. We would be willing to pay extra for this.

You are bidding on the completion of this project to our satisfaction.

1) Use PHP5/MySQL and the code is compatible with CentOS.
2) Provide an installation guide so we know how to install it on our servers.

We have attached a powerpoint example of what we’d like to be able to control including adding categories, modifying category names, etc. These templates by no means have to be exactly the way this information is inputted and/or outputted. We are always open to suggestions to make everything easier to use.

We will provide the PHPBay Pro API upon winning bid. This API is super easy to work with and takes roughly 5 minutes to learn.
