Ref Url Is Lost - Won’t Show 10.06.08
I have a website that will not pass the ref url. That is the referring url will not show in the stats of the website i send traffic to.
Here’s the story / problem.
I have a small search engine that uses the perl / cgi script smartsearch. But this same problem exist for my affiliate using a php script, so it’s not limited to a single programming language.
This script has the option of taking searchers direct, meaning they bypass the search results page. If you choose the direct option from admin - then the web user performs a search and is taken to the # 1 advsertiser listing.
I have a feed provider that approves this process, however when taking traffic direct, the ref url will not show. It matters not the traffic source. It can be Yahoo ads, Google Adwords, or any number of places. And the ref url will not show when taking traffic direct.
Of course the traffic routes quickly through my server and my webpage is never seen. But i need a way to force the traffic to be shown as coming from my domain name that the traffic passes through.
You are bidding on giving me advice that my programmer can follow and make the ref url show. But if he cannot accomplish it by your directions then you will login to ftp and do it yourself.
So if he can follow your directions you only need to advise. But if not then you will need to be able to do it for me, all for the same price, so bid accordingly. My programmer works well with xml feeds and should be able to follow your directions.
Thanks,
market
