Reprogram My Forum Script 02.07.08
I have a busy social networking site (10 000 unique visitors a day) that’s entirely custom scripted, including forums and cms. Custom forum script worked fine until the traffic grew into current numbers but it’s killing the database now because it hasn’t been programmed with high traffic in mind. I need someone who is really an expert in PHP and MySQL and can reprogram the forum script to make it much better optimized, to have indexes, to perform much faster and to ease some load of the server.
The entire MySQL will need to be restructured and I will need to change several things on the way my forums behave.
The website is hosted on a dedicated server with Linux operating system. You will be working on custom scripts that were programmed by other people so you must be able to read other people’s scripts correctly and work with them. You will also be working on a website that has thousand of surfers on it at any given time, hence there is no room for mishaps. You must be 100% sure about everything you do. I will expect you to study other, well established open source scripts (for example MyBB) and learn form them to see how they have it optimized so you can achieve smooth performance of forum threads with many replies and high query demand per second.
